I hope you are enjoying your summer holidays so far! We have been busy planning workshops that we will be putting on over the next academic year and we have a few new ones up our sleeves! To start with, in September we have a session for Year 5 & 6 parents all about transition. If you are applying for your child’s secondary school place this Autumn for entry in September 2019, or for those starting in September 2020, then this is the workshop for you. We know it can be a stressful time and making the decision can be really hard, which is why we have designed this workshop to help guide you through.
We’ll cover everything from open evenings to school visits, filling in the application form, transport, special schools and more! The session is suitable for children with EHC Plans, or on SEN Support.
As always, Cheryl Wyatt from the Information Advisory Service (IAS) will be co-hosting, so there’s plenty of opportunity for gaining advice.
If your child is in Year 5, then this is the year to start considering which secondary school you would like to apply for, you can attend this Autumns open evenings and ask for 1:1 visits to the school, in preparation for applying in Autumn 2019. It’s never too early to start planning!
If your child is in Year 6, then it’s application time this Autumn – you may already have a good idea of where you want to apply to, or you may still be uncertain – this session will help you understand the process whether your child has an EHC Plan, or receives SEN Support and give you the tools to make the decision.
Everyone who attends will receive a booklet that accompanies the workshop and will support you through the process.
We are just running 2 sessions, 1 daytime and 1 evening – as we want to get them in before the open evenings start this coming term:
Wednesday 12th September – 9:45am – 12pm
Thursday 13th September – 5:45pm – 8:00pm.
Both sessions will be held at The Bolton Hub, details of which can be found by clicking here
