We are really pleased to be running 3 more workshops this autumn, plus further one in January that are all based around supporting parents and carers with with the EHC plan process in Bolton.

For times and dates please visit our calendar page

These workshops are run by Cheryl Wyatt from IAS, accompanied by Jacqui Byland. The first is “EHC Plans, what parents and carers need to know – it is a 2 hour session that aims to help parents and carers understand the the whole process of the EHC Plan. It starts by explaining the difference between a Statement and a Plan, moves through the Parental Advice Form, Person Centred Review, understanding the Draft plan and ends with how the plan will benefit your child or young person. The workshop will assist parents and carers no matter what stage of the EHCP journey they are at. If you are yet to embark on the EHCP process, this workshop will give you an overview. If an EHC transfer is imminent, then it will help you prepare. If you are awaiting your draft plan, it will help you understand what you want to be looking at once the draft plan arrives.

The workshop is also an opportunity to meet other parents and carers who are going through the same journey and we can also signpost you to the available help that out there in the Bolton local area to support you and your family.

We are also running a one-off workshop on the 8th November that is specifically focused on Person Centred Reviews (PCR.) Each year Bolton Local Authority commits to starting the transfer process of those pupils who are still on a Statement or LDA  within specific year groups. Pupils in year 2,6,9,11 & 14 will be commencing the process this academic year. Part of the process involves a Person Centred Review, that as a result of the SEND Reforms in 2014, will be a different experience than the usual Annual Review that your families have been part of. This workshop guides parents and carers through the format of a PCR and helps them understand how they can prepare themselves and their child or young person or the review.
