During Autumn 2017 we will have several opportunities for parents and carers. If you are interested in any of the following, please do fill in the contact form and we will notify you when we have confirmed dates and locations.

 SEN Support Workshops

Over 80% of children and young people in Bolton who have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities have their needs met by SEN Support and do not require an EHC Plan. Does your child receive the support in their educational setting that is known by the term “SEN Support?” This term replaced School Action & School Action Plus in September 2014

Do you want to know more about SEN Support and how this system supports your child with SEND to progress at school? These workshops will help you understand the criteria for SEN Support and the Access, Plan, Do, Review Cycle that enables the support in place to continually assist your child to progress.

EHC Plan Workshops

Those children and young people whose Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities cannot be met by SEN Support, will most likely be supported by an EHC Plan. For parents and carers who are new to the this process, or have a child who is transferring from a Statement to an EHC Plan, this workshop will help you understand the process that takes place and how you are involved with the creation of your child’s EHC Plan.

Online Safety Workshops

We will be hosting 2 workshops, one for Primary age children and a second for Secondary Age/older children and young people. These workshops will help parents and carers understand the steps they can take to ensure their child/young person is safe online. Whether they are messing around on a tablet, have social media accounts or are posting on YouTube, we have a professional who can talk you through the things you can do to help keep them safe. For the older children this will also include how to spot signs of online bullying and grooming. It all sounds quite heavy, but the online world that so many of our children and young people feel so comfortable with is an ever changing environment and these workshops will empower you to do what you can to support your children in keeping safe.
